Rupert Ralph Leohner JR.'s Obituary
Rupert R. Leohner Jr., 82 of Gig Harbor Wash., born 10 Feb. 1932 in Harrisburg Pa., died on Monday, December 29, 2014 in Gig Harbor, Wash. Rupert was a graduate of the University of Arkansas where he played football for the Razorbacks for four years. Upon his graduation he became a Reserve Army Officer and proudly served his country for 20 years with a tour in Vietnam with the 1st Signal Brigade, retiring as a Lt Colonel. He was the Senior Army Instructor for the Army Junior ROTC program at Hamilton County High School in Jasper, Fla. for five years. He was an overseas Telecommunications Contractor for many years. He retired to Gig Harbor and was an avid trout fisherman and pheasant hunter.
He is proceeded in Death by his wife Berit, nee Jensen, his son Jon, his mother and father Rupert and Lucy Leohner; his sister Lucy Hollis; and his brothers Don and Steve Leohner.
Rupert is survived by his son Eric and his two granddaughters, Erica and Lauren, all of Illinois, and sisters Betsey Leohner and Susan Visser of Texas and Mary Leohner of North Carolina.
Burial will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent Wash at 1PM on 7 January 2014. Rupert will buried with Full Military Honors.
