Rudolph Fredric Weis' Obituary
Rudy, 74, died on May 19, 2003 of cancer. He was born October 3, 1928 to Rudy and Clara (Mossman) Weis, in Newark, NJ. At 16, he left home and served with the Merchant Marines; he was also a US Marine, and by 23, was Army Airborne. After the war, Rudy settled in California to learn a trade, hardwood floors became his passion for life. He moved to Washington in the late 1950s and worked for several floor companies like, Hull Floors, Quality Floors, and Paulson & Sandy Floors; finally, in 1985 he opened RudyÂ's Hardwood Floors. He was a successful businessman and a true artist when it came to beautiful woodwork. He built his first home on Chambers Creek Road in University Place, and along with his current home, both are show pieces of his craftsmanship and love for beautiful wood. Rudy also enjoyed hunting, camping, and all activities of the great outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Sonia (Toni); stepdaughters, Margaret (Meg) Swanson, Maureen (Moe) Seim, and Patricia (Ducky) Smith and her husband Brian; grandchildren, Rhiannon Swanson, Ken and Mikey Seim, and Joshua Smith. He is also survived by an extended family of John and Mickey Gilbertson, and Kevin and Michelle Ulmer along with their families. Many long time and close friends will miss his smile and his sense of humor Â- Â"Laugh, or IÂ'll tell it again.Â"In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Franciscan Hospice.Graveside services will be 11:30am, Friday, May 30, 2003 at Mountain View Memorial Park. Memorial gathering at Eagles #2933 - 7037 So Pine, 1-3 pm.
