Ruby N. Smith's Obituary
Ruby Smith, age 82 passed away January 15, 2004 in Auburn, Washington. She was born in Tacoma, WA on July 20, 1921 to Earl and Hazel Toulouse and she spent most of her life in the Tacoma area. In 1984 Ruby moved to the Kent area to be nearer her daughter and her family. Ruby was a Pierce County Deputy Sheriff for 18 years, retiring in 1972. She was one of the first female Deputy SheriffÂ's in the department helping to ease the way for the women that followed.Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Art and daughter Carol. She is survived by: her son Terry and daughter-in-law LouAnn Smith of Auburn; daughter Sue and son-in-law Ken Thomas of Maple Valley; grandsons Ryan Thomas of Maple Valley and Jaysen Thomas of Olympia; 3 great granddaughters; brothers Don and Richard Teeter of the Vancouver area and sister Dorothy Janson of Puyallup and numerous nieces and nephews.Viewing will be Saturday, January 24, 2004, 9:00 AM until service time at Mt. View Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held 12:30 pm Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Mt. View Memorial Park.The family would like to thank the staff at Canterbury House and Dr. Panlasuigi for their care and support during RubyÂ's final days.
