Royal W. Fomby's Obituary
Roy peacefully passed away holding hands with his loving wife, Elisabeth (Bobche), and surrounded by all his loved ones. Roy, thank you for being the best husband, father, opa, and great-grandfather anyone could have.Roy was born to Jodi and Essie Fomby in Townley, AL. He worked with the CCC until being drafted into the Army in 1943. He served in Europe during Â"DÂ" Day, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Crossing of the Rhine. He also served in the Korean Conflict and retired in 1964 during the Cold War after proudly serving his country for 22 years. He met Elisabeth and fell madly in love in 1945. They married shortly thereafter and raised four children: Freddie, Danny, Cindy and Evie.Roy worked for the Civil Service where after another 22 years he again retired.He was respected and was liked by everyone he came into contact with.He was an avid fisherman and boater, and enjoyed his time on Puget Sound and American Lake.He is survived by his wife Elisabeth, son Freddie (Lynda), and daughter Cindy (Jim). He was preceded in death by son Danny and daughter Evie. He loved his grandchildren: Melissa, Michael, Stephanie, Scotty, Ryan, Morgan, Christy, Cody and Brandon, who in turn adored their Â"OpaÂ". Also surviving him are six great-grandchildren.Thank you to Franciscan Hospice for their care and compassion during our time of need.Viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Mountain View Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 3:00 PM in the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
