Rosetta Dietrich's Obituary
Rosetta Valera Dietrich age 87, of Puyallup, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023. She was surrounded by family. Born in Tacoma, WA on October 6, 1936, Rosetta was the eldest of four children. She worked at the Pacific Match Factory in Tacoma before becoming a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rosetta was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Francis Dietrich, her parents Vern Barney and Ann (Gallagher), and her sister Darlene (Barney) Rosdahl. She is survived by her siblings Richard (Lois) Barney and Celine (Dick) Pederson. She is also survived by her children Tina Dietrich (Vini), Lori Dietrich, Michael Dietrich (Chris), Shane Dietrich (Karen), and Renee Stack (Robb), as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosetta attended Holy Rosary school and later Lincoln High School in Tacoma. She Met Francis Dietrich while he was on leave from the Navy in 1954 and they began corresponding regularly until his discharge in 1955. They were married June 15, 1957 and bought their first house on Day Island. Rosetta continued to work at the Pacific Match Factory until the birth of their first child Tina. Then Lori and Michael were born and they found that they were running out of room; they bought ten acres in Puyallup where they spent the rest of their lives together. Later Shane and Renee were born rounding out her family.
Rosetta loved camping and the beach. She enjoyed listening to Elvis and Johnny Cash, collecting angels and lighthouses and enjoyed traveling. She was also proud of her Irish heritage. But most of all she loved her family, her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Life Care Center of downtown Puyallup for all the loving care they provided for Rosetta. She was truly loved by the staff and so many of the caregivers. Rosetta was always happy and in good spirits and she loved all the people who took care of her. She loved all of you.
