Rose E. Enoch's Obituary
Rose Elizabeth Gaines was born March 5, 1935, to parents the late Woodrow Taff-Gaines and late Helen Richardson in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was educated in the Greensboro North Carolina school system. Soon after graduation, she married the late Eddie Lee Enoch on Christmas Eve of 1965. They remained married 52 years until his death.
After Eddie and Rose got married, he joined the US Army and traveled the world. While they were married, Rose joined the AAFES team and worked for 30 years in various states before retiring at JBLM as a manager. To this union no biological children were born, but Rose and Eddie were blessed to create their own family.
Rose joined her husband in the Prince Hall Masonic family. She really loved what the order stood for and worked hard. She eventually became a Past Matron of Olympic Chapter#2, Order of Eastern Star and a Past Commandress of Yemen Court#12, Daughters Of Isis. She later joined Rainbow Court #2, Heroines of Jericho where she and her husband were most instrumental in their growth. She loved this order and put in the work to eventually become elected as Most Ancient Grand Matron, Prince Hall Grand High Court, Heroines of Jericho, Washington and Its Jurisdiction, the highest elected position in this organization. After serving her term as Most Ancient Grand Matron, Rose was elected as the Grand Treasurer for over 25 Years. Among all the awards and accolades that she received over the years, she was proudest of the Crown Jewel Award for her hard work and dedication to the Heroines of Jericho. Upon Rose’s retirement from the Treasurer position she was appointed Treasurer Emeritus for the Prince Hall Grand High Court, Heroines of Jericho.
Eddie was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason making Rose eligible to become a Loyal Lady. Because of her strong leadership skills, she soon rose to the highest position in that organization as well, State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler with responsibilities for both Washington and Oregon State Assemblies.
Throughout her masonic career Rose was very active in community service. Rose was a strong advocate for youth achievement and at every opportunity she had, she was willing to help them achieve their goals.
Upon her husband’s passing in 2017, Rose became an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her health declined. When she could not attend in person, Rose utilized Social Media to stay in touch. She even got her out of state daughter to participate in the weekly bible study.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Eddie and one sibling. She leaves to cherish her love and memories, two daughters Tabatha Chinn (Israel), Dallas TX, and Lisa Spencer, (Ron) Seaside CA, one son, Larry B, Opher, Spanaway, WA. She also has one brother, Woodrow David Gaines (Ruby), Kent, WA., nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and people that affectionately call her Momma Rose.
She also had two very special friends who in time became sisters, Mary Douglas and Willie Jones. These 3 ladies formed the Golden Girls because of their affiliation with the Golden Circle. They traveled everywhere together as a group of Loyal Ladies and were recognized as best friends.
In 2015, Martha Davis, being a friend to all three, was asked to drive them to an event. Later she was tasked to be their designated driver and the three became four. A bond was formed, and Martha became like a daughter to Rose. The four of them remained together for almost every occasion and were by her side the day before she passed away.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
