Rosalie "Virginia" Lindsay's Obituary
Rosalie “Virginia” Lindsay, born on April 15, 1918 went to Heaven on November 27, 2016. She was 98 years young and still full of spunk. Virginia was born in Buffalo Texas, on the family farm, to John Newton and Dasie May Jones. She relocated to Tacoma WA in 1950.
Virginia was unarguably the best cook in the world. Homemade pies and Chocolate Gravy with homemade Biscuits were some of her family favorites. Virginia was a long time cook at The Flying Boots Restaurant in Tacoma. That is where she met her husband Morris.
Virginia was an amazing quilter and also crotcheted and knitted afghans. Every person in her large extended family have several of her treasures, many of which won awards at the Washington State Fair and other fairs across the states.
Left to reminisce the wonderful memories of Virginia is her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Morris Lindsay. Virginia also leaves her children, Louise Dale of Tacoma, WA, Sonny (Liz) Smith of Deer Lodge MT, Marion (Jerry) Anderson of Missoula MT, Judy Panday of Tacoma WA and Alan (Mikki) Lindsay of Tacoma WA. Virginia also leaves her 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 ½ great great grandchildren. (Yes Grandma, there really is a baby in there)!
Predeceasing Virginia are her parents, (John Newton and Dasie May) her 5 brothers (Purcell, Norman, Leon, Leroy and Tom Ed), 2 sisters (Mae Irene and Gladys) and her son, James Smith of Burien, WA, who passed just one week prior to Virginia. Her longtime best friend, Mary Winslow, with no doubt, was waiting for Virginia’s heavenly arrival so they could go “shoppin’ shoppin’” (as Morris (Papa) always said).
A memorial service to honor Virginia, will be held on January 14th, 2017, at 1:00pm at El Toro Restaurant, 27th and Pearl, Tacoma WA. Please bring any pictures and/or stories you would like to share.
