Rosa Lynn Parsons
Rosa passed away peacefully Friday, October11, 2013, following complications of pneumonia
She was born in Munich, Germany, February 5th, 1928, and grew up during the difficult years of World War II. She was a religious, modest, compassionate and generous woman, who valued family above all else.
Rosa loved animals and always welcomed the dogs, cats and birds we brought home. She was generous to all charitable organizations and also served as a Red Cross volunteer, at Madigan during the 1970s.
She met the love of her life, Duane George Parsons, while he was stationed in Germany, with the U.S. Army. They married September 26th, 1952, and remained happily married until Duane’s death in 2002. She was an avid gardener and a master of Bavarian cooking and baking.
After several military tours in Germany, Maryland, South Carolina and Texas, the family settled in Lakewood for Duane’s final tour in Vietnam in 1968.
Rosa is survived by her son, George Duane Parsons, her daughter, Dorothy Parsons (Ken) Luthy. Grandchildren, Natalee and Michaela Parsons, Jenna, Kristin and Joshua Luthy, and one great-granddaughter, Cambria Lee. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Taylor, in 1986 and her sister, Anna Endl. Also survived by nephews, Ernst (Gisela) Endl and Erwin Endl and one brother, Eduard (Fanny) Sailer and their familes, all in Germany, and a niece, Rena Jones, of Kentucky.
The family extends special thanks to At Home Care for their assistance in helping mom, as well as the Intensive Care Unit at St. Clare Hospital.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 18th, 2013, at Mountain View Funeral Home, located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, Lakewood, WA. from 1 to 6 p.m.
Service to celebrate Rosa Parsons life will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 2013, at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Aspen Chapel, beginning at 11 a.m.
