Nearly 30 years you were not only my father in law but a 'Dad" to me too. Always considerate, supportive, kind, respectful and loving- things I wish I had from my father, and I envied your relationship with your kids. Your children and grandchildren loved you because you loved them. Through the years you showed me over and over that you loved me too, and I will miss you, father in law, but Dad of my heart.
I love you and miss you Grandpa.

Grandpa Ron was a lover of camping and fishing, and he imparted this value onto his children and grandchildren. He taught us how to catch a fish and clean it properly. I remember one particular camping trip when he set up my cousin and me along a pond near the Lyre River up near Port Angeles. That trip we caught trout left and right, and grandpa remarked on how we "out-fished" all the boys on the pond. He was proud of his fishing girls, especially when one dad approached him and asked him how we were hooking so many trout.
Grandpa also had a deep bass singing voice and his crooning added a rich fullness to our annual family Christmas carols.
My favorite thing about grandpa was when he would sing and tell stories around the campfire. It was something we all looked forward to in the evening after running around all day in the forest or swimming in the river. I think we all had our favorites and after years of the same, we would eventually beat him to the punch and request the tunes we wanted to hear.
Thanks for making the outdoors magical, grandpa. We'll continue to sing your songs for decades to come.

Ron and Cindy were our neighbors for most of those years on Geiger. We moved into our house in 1970. Whenever he would see me outside he would say "Hi Neighbor". I will miss that terribly. My children and theirs grew up together. My daughter, Rikki, and David had upstairs bedrooms across the yard from each other. Many a time they would talk back and forth. Cindy was in my Camp Fire Girls group. Lots of memories.
