With deep respect and heartfelt admiration, we share the news of Ronald Lee Simmons’ passing. Ronald was a devoted husband whose extraordinary life was enriched by his union with his beloved wife, Betty L. Simmons. Their marriage, which spanned over 53 cherished years, stood as a shining example of lasting love, and together they created a wealth of treasured memories throughout the decades.
Ronald embraced many roles in life: devoted father, proud soldier, and steadfast friend. He left this world enveloped in the love of his family, leaving a lasting legacy marked by dedication, loyalty, and countless unforgettable moments. Ronald was born to the late James L. Simmons Sr. and Earline Simmons, and was well known for his integrity, strength, and caring spirit.
Spending more than 24 honorable years as a member of the United States Army, Ronald attained the esteemed rank of Command Sergeant Major. Throughout his distinguished military career, his commitment and bravery were repeatedly recognized most notably by the award of the Purple Heart, a lasting tribute to his valor and sacrifice.
Beyond the discipline of military service, Ronald brought zest and joy to everyday life. Upon retiring from the Army, he embarked on a successful venture in Real Estate. He embraced each day with enthusiasm delighting in travel adventures with Betty, attending baseball games together, they loved attending wrestling matches together, and savoring simple pleasures like sharing burgers and fries while people-watching. He loved his wife's yams, rice and beans. His leisure time he delighted in hitting the golf course and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Seattle Seahawks.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Ronald L. Simmons Sr. and Earline Simmons; his brother, James Simmons; and his sisters Alesha Simmons, Gwendolyn Simmons, Gail Simmons, and Sharon Simmons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty L. Simmons, who stood by his side for 53 years; his daughter, Tonjia Bowman; his son, Ronald Lee Simmons II; as well as his brothers, Earl Simmons and Michael Simmons. Ronald will also be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family members, each holding fond and proud memories of his life.
In his later years, Ronald found profound faith, accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He will be forever remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, country, and his many passions. Ronald’s warm personality, resolve, touched everyone he met. While he may no longer be with us, the courage, wisdom, and love he exemplified will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.
