Ronald Dean Owens' Obituary
Ronald Dean Owens was born in San Francisco, California on January 8th 1961 to Angelyn Dalton and Emmett Owens. Ronald’s time on this earth ended Monday, January 15th at the age of 63 in Tacoma, Washington. Ronald was a Christian man, baptized at Grace Chapel on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. May God rest his soul.
Ronald, known by his friends and family as “Ronnie” was a longtime Washington resident. After moving to Washington at a young age, he spent the majority of his childhood in Lakewood, graduating from Lakes High School in 1980. Following graduation, Ronnie joined the United States Army in which he specialized in cargo and transportation. After retiring from the military, Ronnie worked for the United States Postal Service in Seattle, Washington. He was a dedicated employee, Ronnie’s hard work was recognized with an award for “Outstanding Work Performance”. Outside of work, Ronnie loved playing sports and spending time with family and friends. He played on the post office baseball team, and recruited friends and neighbors to join many recreational basketball and bowling leagues over the years. After retiring from the post office, Ronnie spent much of his time with family, friends and working on his cars. From road trips, to short drives around the block, Ronnie loved spending time behind the wheel. Ronnie was a kind man who loved to laugh and have a good time, he will be missed by many.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Rosa Renée Owens, son, Ronald Dalton Owens, brothers, Kenneth Dalton, Dwight Stewart and many other friends and family.
The Owens family would like to issue a special thank you to the Tacoma General Hospital cardiac care team. We appreciate the time and effort put into making Ronnie’s last months comfortable.
