Ron was one of my first bosses at Hooker Chemical, and encouraged me to be all I could be at a time and in a place when that was very rare. He gave me a great opportunity and I always adored him for that. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and honor. A fellow submarine veteran, I knew Ron for about ten years and would frequently see him at various gatherings of submarine veterans. Ron served aboard the USS Raton SS-270 as a Torpedoman 3rd Class between 1953 and 1955 and earned his submarine qualification insignia in the year 1954. His nick-name was "Tubes Fwd" because he worked in the torpedo room in the front of the boat.
