Ronald D. Hjelmstad's Obituary
Ronald Hjelmstad, born on June 26, 1935 in Grand Forks, ND to Paul J. and Ida Hjelmstad, passed away at the age of 71, on August 12, 2006, in Washington. His last memories were doing what he loved, fishing with his wife on Rife Lake in Mossy Rock.After enlisting in US Army at the age of 17, he went on to serve in the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring as 1st SGT in 1973, receiving numerous accommodations for his 20 years of service. Ron enjoyed spending time fishing, camping and watching the Seattle MarinerÂ's and SeahawkÂ's with his family and friends.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice A (Orloske), Chehalis, WA, three children: Karen L. McCabe (Douglas), Charlotte, NC, Debbie A Durance (Bill), Tacoma, WA, and Larry D. Hjelmstad, Mililani, HI; and grandchildren Ryan McCabe, Whitmore Lake, MI, Jennifer Durance, Tacoma, WA, Reece McCabe, Kalamazoo, MI, Lindsy Durance, Tacoma, WA, and Larry Hjelmstad II, Mililani, HI.Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, August 15 and from 9-11AM on Wednesday at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or charity of your choice.
