Ron Wick's Obituary
Ron Wick, a native of Tacoma and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all, passed away on Thursday, May 12 from dementia-related causes. His wife, Marilyn, preceded him in death on May 9, 2014. Ron attended Stanley Elementary, Mason Junior High, and Stadium High School and graduated from Seattle Pacific College in 1960. He worked for his father’s construction firm for a number of years before founding Ron Wick Fences and Decks in the early 1970s, where he enjoyed many successful years.
Ron is survived by his sons: Steve (Tracy), Kevin (Heidi), and Brian (Missy); his grandchildren: Nicole, Brianna, Maddie, Carlie, Will, Emma, Claire and Traci; and his great-grandson Mason. He is also survived by his sisters Clarine (Reuben) Kvamme, Janet (Gary/deceased) Gosselin, Elaine (Chuck) Holme, Vicky (Jeff) Stone, and Sheryl (Dan) Jorgensen, and his brother Wes (Judy) Wick. He was predeceased by his brother Roy (Barbara) Wick.
Ron was an avid sports fan who rarely missed an SPU basketball game or a baseball game at Cheney Stadium. He was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews who share fond memories of attending games with Ron and Marilyn, sitting in their box seats.
Ron and Marilyn, both people of great integrity, were active members of Life Center Church, which Ron attended since birth. Ron and Marilyn loved to travel and enjoyed many exciting and exotic trips with their family. Ron’s happy outlook and fun-loving ways were gifts to those around him; he always enjoyed a good story and never missed an opportunity to enchant the grandkids, nieces, and nephews with his clever stunts and pranks.
Ron and Marilyn were extremely generous-hearted folks, always contributing to their church and to SPU. In earlier years, Ron was very involved with the Royal Rangers, a church organization for young boys, and was proud that the current pastor of Life Center, Rev. Dean Curry, was one of his students.
The family is thankful for the loving care Ron received from Dr. Waltman and the staff of the Weatherly Inn in Tacoma during his seven years there.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Ron’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
