Roger W. McDonald's Obituary
Born Nov. 15, 1921 in Rockville, NE to Lynn and Johanna (Reimers) McDonald. Passed away after a brief illness in Tacoma, WA June 16, 2005.Roger was a Navy veteran and proudly served his country during WWII. With a passion for sports he medaled in Track and Field, football and baseball while at St. Thomas College and the University of MN.After college he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals and played in the Houston League.An avid golfer, with a 7 handicap, he was a founding member of Fircrest Golf and Country Club.Roger was a member and past president of the Tacoma Athletic Commission, Parkland Fuel Dealers Association, and the Parkland Jr. Chamber of Commerce. Before retirement, he was owner of McDonald Amusement, McDonald Garden Shop, and McWik Electric.Roger leaves behind his loving family, sister Dorthey Birklid, daughters Janice (Joe) and Rebecca (Archie), and son Patrick (Sachi), five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 niece.The family wishes to extend a Very Special Thank You to Ada, Char, and Bob for always being there for Dad.A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, June 26, at CassidyÂ's Pub, 9261 Portland Ave.Roger will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
