I am very saddened about Roger's passing. He was a great friend, and so much fun, and full of ideas and enthusiasms. He was a fine musician and teacher, taking a lot of interest in what students were learning, and what he thought they should be experiencing through music. He helped me a lot in learning how to go about teaching. He contributed music to a program that was put together through the Tacoma Arts Commission Artist Initiative program in 2002, writing "A Minor's Gold" and "Ballad In E" in 2002, songs that were performed with a number of musicians at Jason Lee Middle School. Roger created a number of businesses, including his music school, where I have been teaching since 1981(West Coast Music Studios) and business interests related to model airplanes. He had also been a part of the early Northwest Rock'n Roll scene in the late 1950's and early 1960's with his group,
"The Elegants." Roger was a unique and terrific person, and my condolences to his daughter, Terry, and his family members and friends, and his many students. -Clement Reid##imported-begin##Clement Reid##imported-end##
We are saddened to hear of Roger's passing. We were planning to contact him during our visit to Tacoma this coming week (8/8-15), hoping to help with some issues. But, it was not to be. Hope to see Gary, but was not expecting it to be under these circumstances. Our heartfelt sympathy to all the family and his close friends. Roger will always be in our memories.....
