Robin L. McCuistion's Obituary
Rob McCuistion exemplified the motto -Å"work hard, play hard.- He joyfully balanced his roles as a devoted husband and father, an honorable public servant and a reliable friend. Rob enjoyed numerous hobbies and explored the world around him with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Rob's interests were wide ranging. He mastered whatever he set out to learn and shared those passions with his family and friends. Among Rob's many distinctions: motocross racer, sponsored professional slot car racer, accomplished snow skier, avid water skier, certified scuba diver, licensed airplane pilot, bonsai master gardener, skilled carpenter, sponsored jet ski racer, self-taught engineer, skilled photographer, travel agent, cruise director, car mechanic, eBay extraordinaire, student of computer technology and CEO of the -Å"McCuistion Home car lot.- -Å"Can't- was simply not in Rob's vocabulary.
To pursue a childhood dream, Rob transitioned from a successful career as a heavy construction superintendent to police work at age 40. Rob was a true -Å"fixer- and found gratification in helping people in times of crisis. He had a compassionate, service-focused way of practicing his profession. Rob respected the unity and camaraderie among his fellow officers.
Rob's most satisfying business venture was being the proud owner of Pacific Slot Car Raceways. It was here, with the assistance of amazing partners and supporters, that Rob helped rejuvenate a sport with few venues for enthusiasts to enjoy. Almost immediately a special slot car family was born. Rob genuinely loved to see the sport grow and enjoyed creating a safe place for families and children to gather.
Above all, Rob was a family man who was extremely proud of his wife and three children. He was an active father who coached basketball, fixed broken bicycles and flipped countless burgers at parties. Rob was his family's biggest fan; he relished in Robbie, Lauren and Ian's achievements and adventures. Rob adored his wife of 30 years, Diane. They were much more than husband and wife-"they were best friends who respected each other and delighted in spending time together.
Rob was taken from us far too soon and his absence leaves an immense void. The lesson we have all learned from Rob is to live life fully and to hold dear those around you.
