Robert B. Swanson's Obituary
ROBERT BRUCE (RIP) SWANSON
Robert Bruce (Rip) Swanson in the early morning quietly went to his Lord this day. He was born on 19 January 1942 and passed on 19 April 2011. He had been in failing health for the past 9 months after he had fallen and broken his fibula and it required major surgery to repair. The fall came just one year after his triple by-pass heart surgery in June of 2009.
Rip contracted polio when he was ten years old and fought the pain and after effects of polio for the rest of his adult life. He accomplished many things including working for a major corporation and eventually owning his own auto repair shop. He was one of the bravest and goal oriented people I have ever known. His -Å"stick to it- attitude served him well and there was never anything he would not do from big game hunting, fishing on the ocean or Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, shooting pool with his cane and live ammunition quick draw practice were only a few of his quests.
He had a -Å"million- stories about his adventures during his life, as preposterous to the listener as they seemed, were verifiably true. He Did It His Way.
Mt. View Funeral Home and Cemetery conducted a private, family only Service, at his request. Pastor Todd Garner, St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Graham, officiated at the service.
