Bob and I played softball with Kathy and Ralph in the mid 70’s. One day at practice, Kathy was boasting to Bob that she had just had a turkey sandwich at her moms, because she knew how much he loved roasted turkey sandwiches. We were right across the street in the school ball field. After the practice, Bob walked right up to Bert’s door and explained that Kathy had said her mom would make him a sandwich! Bert said “Sure, come on in.” Mind you, we had never met, and I was sooo embarrassed. Bob and Bert has a special friendship from that day. We will miss her.
