Robert A. Wakeman's Obituary
Robert A. Wakeman Bob was born in Tacoma on October 24, 1925 and passed away at his home of 62 years on February 16, 2016. He was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara and his wife of 43 years, Gerry.
The youngest of 6 children, Bob lied about his age to fight in WWII along with his older brothers. He was an athlete and an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching not only his children but also the children of friends and relatives play sports. Bob also spent many weekends driving his boat so everyone could water ski at the lake. Bob and a friend even volunteered to coach youth baseball.
After retiring from the City of Tacoma, he enjoyed fishing and golfing, but he and Mom also became their grandchildren's biggest fans traveling across the state to watch them play. In later years, he even traveled across the country to watch and was the ultimate soccer grandpa!
Bob is survived by daughters Sue (Ted) Riedle and Nancy (Wes) Tyler, grandchildren Allison (Josh) Paraventi, Holly, and Bryan Riedle, Jason, Joey, and Todd Gjertsen, great granddaughter Julia, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for family will be followed by a reception at 3:00PM, Sat. Feb. 27 in the Willow Room at Mt. View Funeral Home.
