Robert Shackleton Wainhouse's Obituary
Robert Shackleton Wainhouse"Bim"Robert was born at home, on January 13, 1921, in Tacoma, Washington and passed away at home on Thursday, January 24, 2008. Born to Edward and Fannie Wainhouse, Robert spent his entire life in the Tacoma area. He graduated from Lincoln High School where he met and then married his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia Wainhouse. She preceded him in death in August 2002. He was a fifty year member of the pipe fitter's union Local 182 and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. Robert was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dad loved to golf, and he walked the course until he was 83. He loved their cabin on Carr Inlet where, on a rare occasion, on a very clear day, you could see Mt. Baker, Rainier, St. Helens, Adams, and Hood. It was a special place. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his last days were spent with the three generations of his kids and his much loved Welsh Corgi, "Bert".He is survived by his brother Chet Wainhouse(Margaret), daughter SharonWainhouse (Ron Baker), son Leo (Kathy) Wainhouse, grandchildren, Dr.Danielle Jackson, Zemorah (Brian) Murray, Christopher Wainhouse, PatrickWainhouse, great-grandchildren, Lauren and Claire Jackson.A Memorial Service celebrating Robert's life will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Valley Chapel. Donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
