Robert "Bob" Russ' Obituary
Robert (Bob) Russ was born on September 30, 1932, In Whiteville, North Carolina. He passed away on October 5, 2014, in Tacoma, WA.
Immediately after high school, he joined the US Army. He served in The Korean Conflict. However, he spent a lot of his service time in Germany, where he met his first wife Eva Peltomaa. He left the military after thirteen years and settled in Tacoma in 1964. Their marriage was cut short when Eva died in 1976. After leaving the military, he began working a long and satisfying career with the Clover Park School District. Bob was blessed to meet Skaidrite Lambert. They married and shared thirty-six years as soul mates.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Scottie; children Walter (Vikki) Peltomaa of Tacoma; Kirby (Betty) Lambert of Riverside, CA; Rita (Bill) Peck of Siletz, OR; Debbie (Rod) Kenyon of Arroyo Grande, CA; Greg (Michelle) Lambert of Modesto, CA; and twelve grandchildren: Cameron, Keeley, Tamara, Jack, Kennedy, Hunter, Darren, Derrick, Alyssa, Brent, Mark and Scott, and nine great-children. He adored them all. In addition, he leaves his best-friend John Hunter; and the Donors, neighbors who became family.
Bob was a man of faith and he saw God’s touch in nature. He loved his grandmother, gardening, feeding his birds, woodworking, and of, course, the Rainiers, Mariners and Seahawks. However, his greatest love was his wife Scottie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Thompson for years of support, Dr. Schiveley and the personnel on 6B and 8B at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the caring staff at Tacoma Lutheran Home where he spent his final two weeks.
Memorial services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Oak Room on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 2:00pm located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA.
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Bob’s name to the Tacoma Rescue Mission, PO Box 1912 Tacoma, WA 98401.
Bob will be missed.
