Robert Dean Paulson's Obituary
Robert D. Paulson Age 91, of Lakewood, WA, passed away Feb. 7th, 2014. He was born in Portland, Oregon, Dec. 16th, 1922 to Guy and Bess Paulson.
Growing up in Portland, Robert "Bob" Paulson entered the Army Air Core in 1943 as a navigator, but before being transferred overseas, the war ended and he returned home to his father's flooring store in Portland. Finally, in the late 40's he decided it was best to take over the flooring stores in Tacoma, as the second generation family business owner. Bob established G.W. Paulson Company as the premier floor covering store in the Puget Sound area. Through many name changes as the years progressed, Floor Decorators, Floor Decorators Carpet One, Stone Mountain Flooring, and now The Floor Trader, the business is still run by the third generation of Paulson family. Bob was an avid golfer and a long established member of the Tacoma Golf and Country Club. He also enjoyed spending time as a snow bird and resident of Peoria, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his son John, daughter Kristina, and brother Richard Paulson. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Aleene Paulson, his son Robert Paulson Jr. (Linda), his son Steven (Judy) Paulson, his son Michael (Nancy) Paulson, his son Thomas Paulson, his son Dean (Amy) Paulson, and his daughter Carol Eizenhoefer. He leaves behind a legacy of 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Bill (Jeani) Paulson of Sun City West in Arizona and his sister Verla of Carmel California.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 1pm Saturday, February 15th, 2014 at Mountain View Funeral Home located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW in Lakewood.
