Robert Valdo Miraldi's Obituary
Robert Valdo Miraldi, a man of remarkable character and strong faith in Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at the age of 96. Known for his legendary sense of humor and an unwavering work ethic, Bob leaves behind a legacy defined by nearly a century of laughter, wisdom, and devotion.
Born in Philadelphia on December 20, 1929, Bob was the son of Valdo Miraldi and Gertrude Scheckel. Though his formal training was in textile engineering, Bob found his true calling in the construction industry. He spent his life’s work as a commercial and residential contractor, earning a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and professional integrity. He was always available to help friends or his church with repairs, remodeling, or other construction projects.
Bob also loved aviation and enjoyed re-fitting and flying his own Comanche aircraft during his retirement. He had a lively curiosity about nature, how things work, and the world around him, and he willingly shared his vast knowledge to help others. Bob was an avid storyteller, with a unique ability to recall history in vivid detail. He had a quick wit that stayed sharp even in his 96th year.
Bob’s greatest pride was his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Cancellier, with whom he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Bob delighted in raising two daughters, to whom he imparted much knowledge, skill, and encouragement.
He is survived by those daughters, Pat Miraldi and Linda LeFevre; and his grandchildren: Robert LeFevre, David LeFevre, and Joanna Hopely.
In memory of Bob’s lifetime work in construction and faithful attendance at Sunset Bible Church, donations can be made to the Sunset Bible Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 64246, University Place, WA 98464.
