Dad was born in Olympia to Charles and Jessie (Botts) Shumate. He passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Tacoma. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, one brother, Bill, five children, Joyce, (Emmett) Kolowinski, Alan (Stella), Roger (Barb), Debbie (Jerry) Triska, Rob (Sharma), 16 grandchildren (one grandson preceded him in death), 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various capacities and touched many lives. He loved playing the harmonica, which brought much joy to others. His interests included gardening, sports, dancing, and any activity which included his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church, 1102 S. Pearl St., Tacoma, Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009 at 10:00 AM, with viewing 9:00 AM. Interment follows at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tumwater. The family would like to thank the caregivers who worked with and helped Bob in the last years of his life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
