Robert J. Messier, 85, passed away at home in Lakebay, Washington Monday, March 5, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Robert served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Lewis, and following retirement from the Army he worked as a fireman for the Ft. Lewis Fire Department. Robert was a master builder, avid fisherman, and loving husband, father, and grandpa. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Opal, son Earnest Blackburn, and daughters Katherine Erickson, Debrah Wegner, Carrey Acton, and Lorretta Blackburn. He was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Mountain View Funeral Home Garden Chapel.
