Robert Marr's Obituary
Robert Arthur Marr Born Oct 28, 1923; passed away on Feb 2nd, 2012 at Tacoma Lutheran Home. Robert was the 11th of 13 children born to Frank and Catherine Countryman in Spokane, Washington, and was raised by Ellis and Bertha Marr in Bend, Oregon after the passing of his parents in 1926 and 1929. Robert joined the military in 1940 and saw action in the Pacific during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and worked as a police officer with the city of Bend, Oregon and the Oregon State Patrol. In 1947 Robert reenlisted in the Army and in 1952 saw action in Korea as a Second Lieutenant. He was promoted to Company Commander in 1958 and was stationed at several US Army Posts until being transferring to France in 1961. In 1965 he was deployed to Vietnam until returning to Fort Lewis in 1966, where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1968. After the Military, Robert worked at Sea-Tac Airport for 18 years until retiring in 1986. During that time he served as a Police Officer, Operations Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent of Operations, and finally as Superintendent of Operations. Robert is survived by his daughter Tammie Kamstra, her five children, three great-grandchildren, his son Dan, wife Donna, and their son. Services will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 at Tacoma Lutheran Home at 2 pm. Donations in his memory may be made to Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community Chaplaincy Endowment Fund, the Alzheimer's Association . or to Franciscan Hospice.
