Robert Lee Kent's Obituary
Our dear brother, uncle and friend, Robert Lee Kent, from Tacoma,WA., passed away, Thursday, August 14th at Tacoma General Hospital.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Ella and sister, Mae (Jerry) Atwood. Surviving are his brother Donald Kent, Allyn, WA. and his sister, Darlene (Edward) Bunker, Highland, UT.
Born June 16, 1946 to Clifford Arlee Kent and Ella Openshaw in Renton, WA. Rob shared his birthday with his maternal grandmother, Nina Young. He attended Grant Elementary, Jason Lee Jr. High, Stadium High and The University of Puget Sound. He loved learning, reading, birthday phone calls, family and friends.
Rob was a kind, soft-spoken and non-judgmental person. He had an unassuming nature about him that allowed him to treat others as equals and friends. He was an avid reader that loved to expand his knowledge continually through books. While not a traveler, Rob was able to explore the far reaches of the galaxy and all around the earth through the writing of others.
He enjoyed his work at Tide's Tavern where he has been employed for the past 30 years. He also has been a gardener and yard maintenance worker for the past serveral years. Rob loved the earth and working in the soil. He had a passion for being outdoors and working with trees, plants and flowers. His friends, Peter Stanley and Gayle Borling appreciated working with him and having him as a loyal employee and friend.
Rob will be missed by his siblings, numerous nieces and nephews and his friends.
A graveside service will be held for Rob's family and friends on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Mountain View Memorial Park & Cemetery at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W. Lakewood, WA. at 11:30 am. Viewing from 10:00 - 11:15 am
