Robert Knight, Jr.

Robert Knight, Jr. departed this life on January 3rd, 2021 at Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah, Washington.
He was born September 18th, 1937 in Alligator, Mississippi to the union of Robert Knight, Sr. and Mamie Lee Knight who both proceeded him in death. He had one brother Michael Percy Moody who also proceeded him in death.
Robert worked at Northwestern Steel & Wire Company for 34 years. He was also a maintenance man with Dixon Public Schools for 13 years and worked as a janitor at the Dixon Theatre part time for 15 years.
He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior as a young adult under the leadership of the Rev. Sherrod and became a member of the Second Baptist Church in Dixon, Illinois where he was baptized along with his children in 1972, served on the Usher Board and worked as a janitor there for 34 years.
He later joined the Macedonia Baptist Church family where he served as a faithful Usher under the leadership of Paster Ronald Alexander. While he resided in Washington, he attended Timberlake Church regularly under the leadership of Pastor Ben Sigman and Assistant Pastor David Choi.
In 2013 as a result of health issues his children prompted their parents to move from Illinois to Washington State where they currently reside. He enjoyed his golden years observing the beauty of nature that surrounded him in Washington, spending time with family, enjoying time with his grandchildren and doing his favorite lifelong hobby of gardening. He was always happy to share the bounty of his garden with family and friends.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years Esther M. Knight of Issaquah Washington, his daughter Jeanese (Rufus) Ballentine of Lakewood Washington, his son Robby R. (Mira Lynn) Knight of Issaquah, Washington, three grandsons Cletus Lemar Knight, Marcus (Mia Lyke) Knight, Jeremy (Janine) Torres, four great grandsons, Devonte William Knight, Jacob Isaac Knight, Langston Jovan Knight, Joaquin Cade Torres and one great granddaughter Leilani Knight. He also leaves to mourn his sister Earlene Wright Moody of Dupont Washington, niece Aisha Moody, nephew Michael Moody, Jr. and great nephew Isaiah Harris and a host of cousins and friends.
He will be laid to rest in a Private Ceremony on February 1st surrounded by his family at Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakewood, Washington. The family will hold a virtual Celebration of Life Memorial Service in the coming months
