Robert Johnson's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Johnson
Born in April 1930, Bob was raised in Puyallup, where he attended Puyallup High School before graduating and enlisting in the US Coast Guard. Following discharge Bob joined the Tacoma Police Department as a Patrolman. Bob met and married his beloved wife Dorothea (Dottie), and they raised two children. Bob served 27 years with Tacoma, retiring out as an Assistant Chief. He and his wife moved to Astoria for 7 years, where he served as Astoria's Chief of Police before permanently retiring in 1987, and then moved back to their home in Tacoma. Bob passed away peacefully and mercifully in the calm early morning hours of July 13, 2012, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his siblings. Bob and Dottie are survived by their two children, Robert (Bob) Johnson (Sandra) and Christine Johnson (Mike Eddy), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will host a BBQ and celebration of his life at the family home Sunday, August 5th, beginning at 3pm. Please contact the family if you need the address or directions.
