Robert H.J. Hayward Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Harry James Hayward Jr., was called home to Glory September 28th 2017, at the age of 62. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he graduated from City College High School. With his completion of high school, he started a career at Baltimore Gas and Electric. Hearing the call of duty for his country, Robert was a Sargent in United States Army. As well as, 20 year retiree of the Pierce County Public works department. Utilizing his good nature and kind heart, Robert was a Counselor at Western State Hospital. With a booming melodic voice, Robert also took part in Tacoma’s St. John’s Choir. Robert spent countless hours reading and reflecting on the words of Jesus Christ. Robert enjoyed cooking and listening to Luther Vandross and sharing his enthusiasm for those activities with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving siblings Cornell (Andrea) Hayward, Marsha (Don) Gamble, Steven (Yvonne) Hayward, Ada Nichols, Dorothy (Cornelius) Morton-Bowser, his Match in life Mae Gray, his children Robert Hayward III, Unique Hayward-Way, Derek Sledge, Joni Sledge, and grandchildren, nine nieces, four nephews, five great nieces, four great nephews, and countless devoted family and friends.
Robert’s viewing will be held on October 8th from 11am to 6pm. Funeral services will be held on October 9, 2017, 12:00 pm in the Garden Chapel, Visitation 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service in the Celebration of Life, Willow Room at Mountain View.
