Robert J. Fry's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Fry, who passed away on January 11th, 2025. Born on October 12th, 1962 in Germany to Ronald Fry and Nobuko, Robert spent most of his life in Tacoma and Spokane, Washington.
Robert married his beloved wife, Georgia Ryan, on September 7th, 1994, in a beautiful ceremony at a church in Lakewood, Washington. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Above all, Robert cherished his role as a father and grandfather. The births of his children were the most important moments of his life, and he took great pride in supporting them as they grew. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, often collecting cans together—simple moments that meant the world to him.
Those who knew Robert will remember him for his humor, kindness, and compassion. He was always cheerful, neat, and supportive, offering a listening ear or a word of encouragement when it was needed most. His positive spirit touched everyone he met.
As the head of the custodial program at the First United Methodist Church of Tacoma, Robert was deeply loved by his community. His work there reflected his quiet dedication and commitment to his community. He also enjoyed collecting coins and listening to gospel rock, hobbies that brought him joy and connected him to others who shared his passions.
Robert was a valued member of the Lived Experience cohort at the Tacoma Public Library, where he contributed thoughtfully to discussions and formed meaningful relationships with others.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him—his family, friends, and community. A visitation will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington, followed by a memorial service at The First United Methodist Church of Tacoma at 4pm on January 26th, 2025 to celebrate his life and the lasting impact he had on those around him.
