Robert Dixon's Obituary
(Bob) was born in Tacoma, Washington, on November 23, 1935, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He died on April 11, 2013, at the same place. Bob was the son of Eva Mae (White)
Dixon and Noah Wilson Dixon. He grew up in Tacoma. He graduated from Washington State School for the Deaf, which he attended from the age of six (along with his two older sisters. Evelyn
and Shirley).
Bob married Peggy Hofferber September 15, 1962. They made their home in Seattle where Bob worked as a printer, first for Pacific Multiforms and then at The Seattle Times. Peggy and Bob moved
to North Bend, Washington, in 1964, and then to Redmond, Washington, in 1968. They made their home in Redmond for 39 years before moving to Tacoma in 2007. Bob and Peggy are the
parents of two sons, Eric, and his wife Linda, of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Andrew and his wife Stephanie, who live nearby in Tacoma. There were also blessed with two beautiful granddaughters,
Delaney and Ellery and a beautiful step-granddaughter, Ella Parish. Bob retired in 2005 at the age of 70, after more than 30 years at The Seattle Times.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Washington state, and he was proud of and loved his home state. He loved fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed cross-country skiing and hiking in the Cascades.
He was a wonderful host to the many visitors he and Peggy had over the years. He never seemed to tire of showing the beauties of Washington to his parents-in-law, his sisters-in-law, and their many
nieces and cousins who visited. In September of 2012, he and Peggy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary where they were joined by family from Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri, and New Jersey
as well as friends and family from Washington state.
Bob bowled in a league for many years and was a member of Pacific Coast Deaf Bowlers and NW Bowling Association of the Deaf. It was a sad loss to him when he was no longer able to bowl
because of his failing health.
Bob is survived by his wife, Peggy; his sons and their wives, Eric and Linda Dixon and Andrew and Stephanie Dixon; his granddaughters, Delaney and Ellery Dixon and Ella Parish; one sister, Evelyn
Whitney; his many loving and loved nieces and nephews; and other members of his loving family. He will be remembered by them as a kind and patient man whose gentle sense of humor endeared
him to everyone who knew him.

Service will be held in the Aspen Chapel, located in the Celebration of Life Center.
