Robert Davis' Obituary
Robert (Robby) Jeremy Davis, 81, of Puyallup, WA passed away peacefully due to complications from a heart attack on November 23, 2019, surrounded by his daughter, Vicki (Davis) Pettiross of Lake Forest Park, nephew, Rick Chamberlain of Portland, and girlfriend Pat Brooks. Many family and friends sent their love his way as his final inning came to a close. Rob was born on May 14th, 1938 in Seattle, the only child to parents Rosalie (Leopold) Davis and Victor Nevler. His parents divorced when he was young. His mom married Arnold Davis and he spent his childhood in Portland, Oregon with sisters Jacqueline (Davis) Chamberlain and Laurel (Davis) Covin; graduated from Grant High School then moved to California where he attended El Camino Junior College, Los Angeles State College, Pepperdine, and USC, obtaining BS degrees in Police Science and Recreation Education In 1965 while completing his duty as a member of the ROTC. He was a leader among his peers as president of many student councils and a dedicated athlete. A proud member of the Zi Iota Chi fraternity family at El Camino and the Eagles of Puyallup. After graduating college, he completed multiple tours with the Air Force in Vietnam and Korea, flew helicopters in battle, organized sports on base, and was recognized with many commendations for his dedication and bravery as a military police officer, including the bronze star. He celebrated a military and civilian retirement after 30 years, retiring with honors as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force and Athletic Director of the McChord Air Force Base gym. “Scooter” Davis loved playing and coaching slow pitch softball since 1966 and was inducted into the Washington State Softball Hall of Fame in 1998. All are invited to pay their respects at his burial and Celebration of Life. He will be buried with full military honors at Tahoma National Cemetary on Wednesday, December 4th in Kent, WA. Services begin promptly at 10:15am. Friends and family should meet at the entrance and wait for the escort. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Puyallup 12:00-4:00. In lieu of flowers and to honor the playful, mischievous child inside of Rob that never grew old, contributions of unwrapped new toys may be brought to the Eagles to be donated to the Birthday Room at the Puyallup Food Bank.
