My Grandfather, Robert Confer was one of the kindest, most generous people I've ever known. He was honorable to a fault and would give the shirt off his back for someone in need. He taught my brother and I the values of hard work, believing in ourselves even when others didn't and to know our own self worth. He was a tinkerer, always fashioning some rudimentary device that looked highly dubious, but worked more often than not. He was always there for us, no matter how much we argued or butted heads over silly things. I often let my hotheaded attitude and need to figure things out for myself override his guidance and wisdom, which I do regret. He was an amazing grandfather and only ever tried to impart what he knew to us to help in whatever future endeavor we pursued. He always asked us about our friends and how they were doing, always asked us about how business was at the shop, always told us to "Watch it!" And "Be careful!" Wherever we went. He was always quick to call to tell us to come home if the weather got bad or tell us "Come home and go to bed!" Since we stay out late most nights. He always looked after the family and always said how proud he was to have the family that he did. The three of us (he, my brother Andy, and I) shared a tremendous love of all things Charlie Brown/Peanuts and Captain America. We would come over every weekend and spend it with Pap and Gram. We'd stay up late Friday and Saturday nights to watch all sorts of fun stuff on TV like the A-Team, Buck Rogers, Star Trek and tons of other shows over the years. I am, and always will be proud to be his Grandson. Gonna miss you like crazy, Pap. You will always be our Captain America.
