Bob and I became good friends through our colleagueship as Dreamworkers and members of The International Association for the Study of Dreams. As his dreams began to give possible indications of his dying, we worked together on them. I felt privileged to walk that path with him as a way of our sharing what sometimes is beyond words.
Bob came to a Journey Conference I hosted in NC and there, with another Lakota Pipe Carrier and Dreamworker friend of mine and Bob, the three of us took time out to climb the mountain path where, overlooking the beautiful valley in Fall, we shared together in a traditional Lakota Pipe Ceremony of prayer -- one of several that I had the opportunity to share together over the years. The always sacrilized the surrounding experiences and they reminded us both that our Journey is sacred.
Some days after the conference, I was grateful to enjoy a day with Bob in Winston-Salem, NC where we walked in a beautiful park, enjoying nature and wandering until we got lost and then Bob with his easygoing resourcefulness hitched us a ride back to where we started, after which we enjoyed conversation at a nearby Starbucks.
I always loved Bob's easygoing interest in others, his soulfulness and his heart-felt ability to tell stories that enhanced the humanity of all who heard them.
I am deeply grateful for knowing Bob and for the friendship that we shared, and still share though in a different way. As I told him, the love we share as friends continues on this side or the other.
Bright Blessings Bob, my friend. I salute you,
Tom Lane
