Robert "Rocky" Chipman's Obituary
Robert “Rocky” Otis Chipman, one of six children born to Bobby and Ida Chipman.
Born July 13, 1955, in Tacoma, Washington, and passed at home on March 16, 2026, at the age of 70.
In his younger years, he had a bit of a rebellious streak, but that same independent spirit carried him through life. For 47 years, he worked installing pumps and maintaining water systems, a true tradesman who took pride in doing things the right way. He was the definition of blue-collar: dependable, skilled, and never afraid of a hard day’s work. If something was broken, he fixed it. If there was a job to be done, he got it done. He was a man who put actions over words. His family knew if they needed help, they could depend on him to be there, no matter the task. He was also known for being frugal beyond belief, a reflection of his practical nature and disciplined way of life.
Strong-willed and determined, he never wanted anyone to fuss over him and didn’t seek recognition for what he did. He loved golfing and was always grateful for a round with family and friends. In his later years, he found purpose in the quieter routines of life, especially spending time with family, watching football, and taking walks with his dog, Idja, who became an important part of his daily life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; his children, Sara, Kyle, Camron, Casey, Danielle, Jacob, and Jaimee; 14 grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.
Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Must Love Corso’s Rescue.
He will be remembered for his humor, his reliability, and his unwavering work ethic. He didn’t ask for much, didn’t make a big deal about things, and never wanted the spotlight but he was the kind of man whose presence meant everything, and whose absence will leave a lasting space in the lives of those who loved him.
