Robert Carlyle (Bob) Coffman
Eldest of three children, Bob was born on October 28, 1921, in Timewell, Illinois, to Lloyd Rankin Coffman and Melva May (Miller) Coffman. He died November 6, 2011, in Tumwater, Washington. Bob served 20 years in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He retired in 1962 from McChord AFB, achieving the top enlisted rank of CMSgt with the 62nd Troop Carrier Wing (MATS). In 1983, he retired from civilian employment at McChord AFB Logistics. Bob was married for 67 years to high school sweetheart, Dorothy Euvadell (Allen) Coffman (deceased). They lived in the Lakewood area for 48 years. He was a former square dance caller and instructor for the Roamin' Tacomans square dance club and a member of the Rainier Teachers and Callers Association. His square dance venues included state square dance conventions, floats in the Tacoma Daffodil Parade, local television, the Western Washington State Fair, and the occasional live-band event, as well as bi-monthly club dances. A life-long baseball fan, Bob also enjoyed photography, painting, and travel. He and Euvadell were members of the First Christian Church, Tacoma, WA. He is survived by his sister, Marybelle Fross, Columbus, MO, and his daughter, Carla Jann Coffman, Olympia, WA. His brother, William Franklin Coffman, is deceased.
