Robert "Bob" Brodland's Obituary
On July 18, 2023 at 8:00 am Robert “Bob” Brodland, passed away in his home at Tacoma, Washington. He was 93. His daughter, Karen, and son, Sam, were with him as he passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence.
Bob Brodland was born April 9, 1930 to George and Ruth (Upton) Brodland in Palo Alto, California. Bob graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma and attended Eugene Bible School in Oregon, then later, Seattle Pacific College and Bethel Temple Bible School in Seattle, WA. Bob met Marian Patterson while studying in Seattle and they were married in 1953. After sensing a call to Indonesia, Bob and Marian left for Indonesia in 1956. They spent 30 years teaching and ministering in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia while overseeing and expanding the Batu Bible School in East Java. Bob then pastored Bethel Temple in Seattle, WA from 1986 to 1992. After pastoring, Bob and Marian travelled to many countries teaching and mentoring many in their walk and ministry in the Lord. In his later years, Bob continued to minister and write as he was able. He also pursued his love of woodworking. Many have been blessed by Bob as he regularly gave away hand-crafted pens turned in his wood shop.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife Marian Louise (Patterson) Brodland.
Bob is survived by his children Karen Dawson and her husband Steve, Sam Brodland and his wife Donna; grandchildren Kelsey Goodson and her husband Clay, Elisabeth Dawson, Kathryn Dawson, Anna Dawson, Keith Brodland, and Jessica Worotikan and her husband Michael; great grandchildren Elouise Goodson and Clarence Goodson.
The funeral for Bob Brodland will be held on August 2, 2023 at 10:00 am at Aspen Chapel - Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
