Robert A. Johnston's Obituary
Dad was born in Puyallup, Washington to Mable & William Johnston May 13, 1943. he attended Waller Road Elementary and Puyallup High School where he graduated in 1962; after graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and served his country proudly for 4 years. After his enlistment was done he began working for the Tacoma Water Department. He enjoyed working with all the employees there. He's brought home different stories from work & shared them with family; we remember as children one time in particular when he was on call, he got called out and was gone for a few hours when he came home he had a fire hydrant. He took pictures of us kids standing along side of it ... dad was very proud of his work and liked sharing tricks of the trade with fellow workers.Robert & Barbara married March 9, 1972; they were happily married for 31 yrs. Upon his death, dad was a loving husband, father, & grandfather ( papa )...he was especially proud of his grandchildren in whatever their ventures were. Some of the things he enjoyed doing with family were: going to the movies, taking the grandkids on the Santa train, watching them play in the pool, and taking them to the fair. His grandkids played a very important part in his final days. He took comfort in them being around. He is survived by 3 children, Sandra (James) Hamilton, Michael (Tammy) Johnston, and Ronald (Kim) Johnston; and 7 grandchildren, Destinee (13), Brittanee (9), Zachary (8), Dakota (6), Makayla (5), William (1 1/2), and Amelia (6mo.).He will always be very loved and missed.
