Rita Young's Obituary
Rita Susan Young, 92, of Merrill Gardens, Renton, WA, died at her home with family present on Thursday, December 26, 2019. Rita Susan Young, the daughter of Francis and Carolyn Obermayer Fay, was born on October 4, 1927, in Bellmore, New York. She grew up on Long Island, sharing life with her brother Stanley and her sister Elizabeth.
On June 30, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Sacia Young. To this union were born three children, John, Sacia and Lisa. After raising her family, Rita went to college while in her 40’s and received her certification as an EKG technician, working for many years in the area hospital as an EKG technician, a career she found very rewarding. In retirement she moved to Roseville, CA, to be closer to her son and family. More recently she was a resident of Burke, VA, before moving to the Seattle area to be closer to her daughter Sacia and family.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Lisa, her son John, her brother Stanley and her brother-in-law Russell Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Sacia Vik and husband Neil of Kent, WA; grandchildren, Melissa Scott and husband Kelly, Rachel Harrison and husband Josh, all of CA; Adam Lehner and Kalyn Lehner of WA; great-grandchildren Emma Scott, Jackson and Sean Harrison; daughter-in-law Mary Harmon and husband Michael, CA; sister Betty Anderson of Burke, VA; niece Lauren Warshaw and husband Steve, NY; nephew Scott Anderson and wife Jennifer, VA; grand-nephews Ian and Ryan Anderson.
A Memorial Service for Rita will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Journey Christ Church, 1933 NE 125th St., Seattle, 98125.
Memorials in Rita’s name can be given to Providence Hospice of Seattle. They provided wonderful care for Rita and her family during these last few months. Providence Hospice is a not-for-profit, community-based hospice ministry, serving seriously ill people in King County. They provide compassionate physical, emotional, and spiritual care to people nearing the end of their lives, including support for their families and friends.
