Rita,
You were one tough broad. You served your country during the most difficult times in it modern history. You were a no nonsense kind of gal. You did more for women as a shining example of a strong, independent woman and patriot as any modern feminist. Most importantly, you were one of the Lord's most faithful servant.
I remember my delight, while touring the museum in Cheyenne Wells, that I came across your band picture.
I know this is way late. However, you are always with us as long as your are in our hearts.

Thanks for letting us know about the passing of Rita. Even though she was older than Don, he has fond memories of her taking him for ice cream; he called her "the ice cream lady". Thank you for letting my mom, Lucile, know about Rita's death. They were down to about the once-a-year Christmas cards, but they sure went back a long way when both families lived in Cheyenne Wells. I remember as a kid visiting Min and Bill in Ft. Collins. Then Rita visited my folks in FL, the last time when my dad was in hospital. Amazing how far people went from eastern Colorado, Rita especially. An amazing woman.

It is so sad to lose my Godmother. Rita left a powerful impression on me the few times we were able to be together. Her Irish humor and wonderful stories will live forever in my memory.
