Rita Louisa Kikillus' Obituary
Rita Louisa Kikillus, beloved wife, friend, and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully in Lakewood, Washington, on January 17, 2026, just days before her 86th birthday.
Rita was born on January 23, 1940, in Kiel, Germany. In 1956, at the age of sixteen, she journeyed to the United States on a student visa-a bold step that would shape the rest of her life. She settled in New York, where she later attended Berkley Secretarial School and began a long and accomplished career as an executive secretary.
Her professionalism, sharp mind, and dependable spirit made her a trusted presence in every workplace she joined. In 1960, Rita married William, the love of her life. Together they built a life rooted in partnership, hard work, and shared adventure.
In addition to her secretarial career, Rita also spent time working in a preschool, where her patience and warm nature left a lasting impact on many young families. Always ambitious and eager to learn, she also earned her real estate license, adding yet another chapter to her diverse and dedicated working life.
Rita made Lakewood, Washington her home in 2011, where she enjoyed her later years surrounded by familiar comforts, community, and the people she loved. Rita will be remembered for her strength, determination, and the quiet grace with which she moved through the world.
Her life story-one of courage, love, resilience, and new beginnings-will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rita is survived by her husband, William; brother Dieter Kubisch of Kiel, Germany; her sons Gary Kikillus of Merrit Island, FL and Robert (Pamela) Kikillus of Tacoma, WA; grandsons, Benjamin and Andrew Kikillus.
May her memory be a blessing to those who carry her in their hearts.
