I love you dad, you were a great example of a husband, dad, and grandpa. I am so thankful for all you did to serve others. You had a huge heart, many times bringing home strangers who didn't have a place to go at Christmas, thanksgiving, Easter, and Independence Day. you genuinely cared for other people and were always ready to help others. You were straight forward and to the point, with only intentions of helping. I remember when you shot the dishwasher (on accident!! Although rumor had it the dishwasher "quit spinning circles") and when my horse reared up and you fell off in slow motion you said he gently threw you off. When you and tracy and rob I think, sat around a mole hill with guns drawn waiting for the dirt to move, then opening fire on the Sneaky rodent, who still got away. I remember all the praise you gave Charlie all the time, and how proud you were of your grandkids. All of them! Always complimenting them. I remember all the trips from Fairbanks to Anchorage and how you taught me how to throw a baseball. Your stories of uncle Claire stealing a horse then trying to convince grandma it followed him home, and many other stories of growing up during the depression., and being a salvage diver in the navy and baseball stories. I remember telling you a recruiter said I should join the navy when I was 18 and you answered with a "hell no!!!" lol, you were right and I didn't enlist, thankfully it wouldn't have been a good fit for me at that age. You always told me I was beautiful, and a good mother and wife. I love you and miss you dad!

Judy my condolences to you and the family. Larry and I visited Richard ,Mary Lou and the kids many times in San Berndino. Both brothers liked to argue about every subject under the sun.Your description of Richard was spot on( cantankerous), I loved that. I enjoyed being a part of the family and spending time there. I regret not meeting you and your famiy. Richard and Larry helped each other and I was glad to be a part of that. We did not always agree, but acquiesced and all was well again...I will miss and never forget him. Thank you for you help and kindness to when I needed it..Love Donald Ficke
