Richard Calvin Walters April 22nd, 1951 – July 10th, 2025
Richard “Rich” Calvin Walters, age 74, passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 22nd, 1951, in Atloona, Pennsylvania, Rich was the beloved son of the late Melvin and Dorothy Walters. A proud graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, class of 1969, Rich went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After receiving his honorable discharge, he relocated to Washington in 1974, where he built a life grounded in service, family, and quiet joys.
Rich dedicated many years to civil service at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, working as a contractor estimator until his well-earned retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and generous spirit- always ready to lend a hand or share a story. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela Walters; his daughter, Kim Hebert; and his son-in-law, Thomas Hebert. Rich is also remebered with love by many extended family members and lifelong friends, all of whom were touched by his warmth and humour. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law John S. Clarence, his brother-in-law John W. Clarence, and several other cherished family members.
Rich has a deep love for the outdoors and found great peace in simple pleasures- fishing, tending to projects around the house spending time in Oregon, and restoring classic cars. He also shared a special bond with his two loyal dogs, Harper and Haley, who brought him great comfort and companionship.
A service to honor Rich’s life will be held on Wddnesday, July 30th, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Aspen Chapel. A military tribute will follow at the graveside service, and all are welcome to join the family for a reception afterward to share memories and celebrate his life.
Though Rich may no longer walk beside us, his legacy of love, kindness, and service lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
