Richard T. Pleiss' Obituary
Richard T. Pleiss
On April 23, 2012, Richard "Rick" "Ricky" T. Pleiss passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born to Richard and Joyce Pleiss on April 21, 1948 in Richland, WA. He spent his early years in Spokane before moving to Tacoma, graduating from Wilson High School in 1966. Rick was always a sports enthusiast; playing, watching, coaching and collecting. As a young teenager he worked at Cheney Stadium selling hot dogs to be close to his favorite sport. After graduating, he joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in New York and later Vietnam. After leaving the military, he went into the real estate business, but ended up following in his father's footsteps in the car business, where he had a successful career. He retired in 2008 and moved to one of his favorite vacation destinations, Las Vegas! Where he had lived the last 3 years. Rick was an avid bridge player, playing all over the country. But his favorite pastimes remained baseball, singing, and gambling. Rick was an active volunteer much of his life with the Boys & Girls Club of America and numerous other organizations, as well as being a member of Elks Lodge #174. Rick brought much happiness and love to his family and is survived by his wife Joyce, daughters Lisa Pleiss, Mariah (Jonny) Salvino, and Danielle Richardson; grandchildren Emma and Jonathan Salvino, and Luke and Logan Richardson; sisters Kathy (Bob) Nali, Karen (Lance) Morris, and Paula (Ole) Norman; plus three nephews. Rick lived a great life and enjoyed every minute of it! He made friends wherever he went and will be deeply missed by all, especially his dogs Rocky and GiGi. Donations are suggested to the Nathan Adelson Hospice Organization. A celebration of Rick's life will be held May 5, 2012 at 11:00 at Mountain View Cemetery, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW.
