His parents, Kathryn Sutton and Gordon James Rush, along with his grandparents, Thomas J. Sutton and Elizabeth Sutton, attended the ceremony. This marked the inception of a life guided by faith and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Enriched by Lockport’s vibrant historical backdrop and picturesque scenery, Richard thrived during his formative years. He embarked on his educational voyage at John Pound School, accompanied by his younger sister, Diane. Amidst cobblestone streets and timeless landmarks, Richard cultivated enduring friendships and crafted memories that served as the cornerstone of his character, molding him into the remarkable man he became.
In the sanctity of marriage, Richard was twice blessed by the profound love of Nora Kegod Rush. Their union was first solemnized on August 08, 2008, in Centralia, Washington, and later reaffirmed on September 27, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington. Their relationship stood as a testament to enduring commitment, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion, fostering shared dreams, mutual support, and unconditional love.
Richard epitomized fatherhood, radiating warmth, guidance, and unwavering support to all his children: Grant, Michael, Jennifer, Ara, Arven, Jessa, JC, and John Paul. His paternal love knew no bounds, extending to each of them with equal generosity and care. With a heart brimming with affection, Richard navigated the complexities of blended family dynamics with grace and compassion, creating a tapestry of love and belonging that transcended bloodlines, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of calling him 'Dad.'
Fondly remembered as a beloved uncle to his nieces, Michelle and Tina, Richard brightened their lives with his guidance and wisdom. As a grandfather, Richard discovered limitless joy and fulfillment. His heart brimmed with love for his grandchildren, Sydney, Ryan, Shayla, London, and Star, delighting in their growth, learning, and success. A funeral service will be held at the Aspen Chapel of Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakewood, Washington, on June 8, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Following the service, a solemn interment ceremony will take place, where Richard will be laid to rest amidst a serene atmosphere, surrounded by the love and memories of family and friends.
