Richard Martin's Obituary
Richard “Dick” Hervey Martin passed away on May 1, 2014 in Dupont, Washington. He was born in Juneau, Alaska on July 29, 1920 to Hervey and Francis Martin.
Dick grew up in McKenna, Washington, graduating Roy High School in 1938. He had a great love for the outdoors and spent much of his young life exploring in the woods near his home. This love of the forest provided a job as a young adult making his living working in the woods as a logger.
He served in WWII at Bushnell Army Hospital in Brigham City, Utah where he met and married his beloved wife, Fauniece Palmer. They eventually moved to University Place where they remained and raised their 6 children. Dick worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as an electrician, retiring in 1979. After retirement he worked at Tacoma Boat Building.
Dick was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and took every opportunity to share it with others.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Fauniece, and sons, Mel and Dennis. He is survived by children: Hazen (Angie), Hervey (Randi), Ellen (Larry), LuAnn (Lee), daughters-in-law, Lauren and Kay, 28 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Patty Gallagher of New York, Dottie Rambo of Olympia and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. We love you Dad and Grandpa.
