Richard A. Libby Sr.'s Obituary
Richard A. Libby Sr. (1958-2026)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Adlebert Libby Sr. often referred to as "Rich.” Although he will be missed by many, he has begun his journey, worthy of joyful tears, to heaven.
Richard A. Libby Sr. Was born April 14, 1958 and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 31, 2026 at the age of 67 years old in Tacoma, Washington.
As a proud veteran of the US Army, Rich served his country with honor and integrity. Rich had an adventurous spirit and was deployed across the world with the Army. Hailing from Maine, Libby spent time in Connecticut, Korea, Louisiana, Germany, Spain, Colorado, Hawaii, Washington State and many other places.
Richard was an avid angler who enjoyed fishing in all seasons. It didn’t matter if it was summer, fall, spring, or winter. It was always trout season, or salmon season, or squidding or crabbing season. Some people fish, but Richard was a "fisherman". He especially enjoyed sharing this love of casting - and waiting patiently for the catch - with friends, his wife, and 3 kids. Fishing is always better with a friend - and usually that friend was Junior, his son and fisherman protege.
Rich is survived by his wife of 48 years, Un (Grace), his two daughters, Michelle and Sabrina, and four loving grandchildren, Isaac, Sam, Ellie and Xander. All of whom he loved dearly and was proud of. He was especially proud of his wife and their marriage of 48 years! Richard was preceeded to the finest fishing hole in God's eternal kingdom by his son, Richard Libby Jr., and you can be sure that Junior is awaiting his dad with a rod and reel in hand to fish in the sunshine for all of the rest of eternity.
Rich loved a good joke and laughing with his family and friends. Whether at church or playing cards with the oldies blasting or fishing, Richard enjoyed life, even when it was hard. In fact, it wasn’t uncommon to hear him make a joke or poke someone to make them smile during a difficult circumstance. So, shed a tear for the loss of Rich, but don't forget to smile because he is where the fishing is good and every day is fun in the sun with the Lord.
Celebration of life services will be at Mountain View Funeral Home on Friday, March 20th at 11 am.
