Richard Lee Morgan's Obituary
Richard Lee Morgan "Daddy," Richard L. Morgan, went home to be with Mom and Pop Wednesday morning. Dick, as many knew him, fought Alzheimer's far longer than we ever realized. Dick grew up in New Kensington, PA with numerous brothers, sisters and cousins. He met Hildegard in Germany while in the U.S. Army, bringing her home to his family, where Mom and Pop fell in love with her also. Dick served 20 years in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. His career took him around the world, including Germany, Iceland, Panama and Viet Nam. Stateside, he worked in the Pentagon, Ft. Lewis and Ft. Lawton, WA, and ended his career working for the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Tacoma. Dick went on to work for the U.S. Customs Service as an inspector, subsequently frustrating the entire family for the next 20 years with his uncanny ability to identify any wrapped package. Christmases were never the same. Daddy's greatest love, second only to Mom, was his farm in Roy. On their 40 acres, he raised cattle and fence posts; using his vacation to cut the hay they stored in his beloved barn. Over the years he had many four- legged companions in his labors, the last being Red and Bailey, who joined the family in the last two years. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Arthur D. and Mildred I. Morgan, sisters Betty Ann Myslinski, Louise Boggs and Gretchen Haas, brother Donald Morgan and brother-in-law Ben Haas. Dick is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Hildegard, son Richard A. Morgan, daughters Lorraine Ronquillo and Kathleen London, daughter-in-law Pat Fedorka, son-in-law David Ronquillo, and his beloved grandchildren, Jessica Webb, husband Sam, Scott Morgan and Matthew Ronquillo. The funeral service will be held at noon, Today, January 26, 2009, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven, 14601 A St., Tacoma, WA, 98444. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western and Central Washington State Chapter, 206-363-5500, ext 221.
